Telnet Page ‘b’ (98) Policy Q's

Telnet page ‘b’ (‘B’) displays the status of the policy queues for the router. The display is updated once per second. Example of a page ‘b’ display: Policy queues are used to control the allocation of resources in the router particularly in times of congestion, errors and overload situations. The user defines the priority to be allocated for each type of traffic and ‘schedule ratio’ to be allocated to each priority type. The page is updated every second.

Generic entry format

Q Type = AA E=BB M=CC S=DD P=EE SE=LL SM=MM SD=NN
E=FF M=GG S=HH SR=II CS=JJ D=KK

Where:

AA = the policy Q type type which may be

BB The total number of entries in the Policy Q

CC the maximum number of entries that have ever been in this policy Q

DD The maximum number of entries permitted in this Policy Q

EE The current priority level being processed by the Policy Q handlers

LL The number of items in the Super Q.

MM The maximum number of items that have ever been in the Super Q.

NN The number of items that have been discarded from the Super Q.

Each Policy Q has 3 entries one each for HIGH (First line), MEDIUM (second line) and LOW (last line) priority.

FF the number of entries at this priority level

GG the maximum number of entries that have ever been queued for this priority level.

HH the maximum number of entries permitted for this priority level.

II The ‘service ratio’ (the number of times this q may be serviced before the Policy Q handlers move to the next priority level).

JJ the current remaining number of operations before the Policy Q handlers move to the next priority level

KK the number of items that have been discarded from this q due to congestion.
