The static 'shop window' web site phase is over. Web sites need 'living' or dynamic content. They need to work for their users and clients. Never mind the fact that the 'freshness' of content plays a significant role in ensuring your pages are well positioned on and regularly visited by, search engines.

With the traditional model of web site development, where design and development and maintenance is handed over to a third party this can become outrageously expensive. The classic alternative is to bring 'in-house' the required technical expertise which in turn brings significant investment.

ZYTRAX has developed a third way, Web-Edit, which allows unskilled customer personnel to add, edit or delete items from a web site using a secure, high level, browser based interface.

What is Web Editing?

If we look at dynamic 'content' carefully then we find that the page layout, colors, fonts, menus, page formatting and all that 'techie' stuff is pretty static.

The 'stuff' that changes is the text, pictures, links - the low tech (relatively) stuff - that users are very familiar with. Web-Edit formalises this low tech stuff into an editable form. We provide access to the 'update' service through a private Intranet service. This page provides a number of static demonstrations of the service in action.

How does it work

When we construct your web site we identify in discussion with the client those parts of the web that will be dynamic. We construct menu driven interfaces which you access through an Intranet interface. You pay a small one-time premium (~20%) for this service when the web is constructed but save considerably within a very short time.

Web-Edit Advantages

1. It does not require skilled personnel.
2. It is very fast to make even major changes - typically 15 mins or less.
3. It is very safe - most of the work is done automatically - typically all the user does is supply raw text, click a few options and the update is done.
4. Web look and feel is preserved. The CSS Style sheets are automatically used preserving the web's look and feel.
