The Servers section of the MIB is used to define a variety of Server Types that may be used in normal operation. A maximum of 4 entries are currently supported in the serverTable (of any types). The types currently supported are:
Server Type | Description |
KEEP ALIVE | The KEEP ALIVE service allows the Router to poll up to 4 servers every 60 seconds. If no response is received from any of the KEEP ALIVE servers the router will automatically reset. KEEP ALIVE servers may be used to ensure maximum availability of the router service especially in unattended application. NOTE: In order to ensure that the router does not reset due to the user inadvertently removing a server, is better practice to always use at least two KEEP ALIVE servers. |
TIME SERVICE | The Time Service will obtain a Time of Day and Day of Week service from a nominated ZyTrax Time Server. This service is mandatory when using Time of Day Routing features with any non continuous entries (see). |
DNS | Allows URLs to be used instead of IP addresses for certain server types and MANDATORY when using the Proxy DNS service for NAT Thin Proxy configurations. |
SNMP TRAP | SNMP TRAP servers allow reception of TRAP events (alarms) for router exceptions and Security Intrusion Detection services. |
RADIUS | Allows a RADIUS server to be used for Authentication and or Accounting information. |
DHCP | When a DHCP server is defined and the DHCP service is enabled then the router becomes a BOOTP relay agent and all DHCP requests are forwarded to this server. |
The Server entries are configured using the MIB entries (up to 4 are allowed) in the serverTable (zytrax\router\servers\serverTable\serverTableEntry)using CoolFig (V 2.1+) or Control Server (4.00+) (both available here). The serverTable consists of the following entries.
MIB Name | Meaning |
serverType |
0 = KEEP ALIVE server entry |
serverIP | Specifies the IP address of the server (may not be required if the serverName entry is being used with a DNS server type defined). |
serverName | The URL of the server the following notes apply:
