Configuration

ZyTraxsupplies three utilities for use with your Router:

COOLFIG - Configuration and management utility. To download the latest version of this utility together with operational instructions and a help system, please consult the ZyTrax CoolFig pages.

ZING - Router and Network monitoring utility. To download the latest version of this utility together with operational instructions and a help system, please consult the ZyTrax Zing pages

CONTROL SERVER (NT_Ser) - Diagnostic and maintenance utility. To download the latest version of this utility together with operational instructions and a help system, please consult the ZyTrax Control Server pages

Router Configuration

This manual is based on the use of CoolFig for all its configuration. CoolFig uses a Router Wizard to guide you through the steps required to configure your Router.

Your ZYTRAX Router provides many configuration options to allow almost unlimited control over the Router's operation. However in order to simplify the process the Router Wizard requests that you select one of 4 Configuration Templates. You should initially select the Configuration Template that most closely fits your requirement, then capture all the required information using the supplied checklists, then proceed to load and use the Router Wizard. If you are not familiar with IP networks you may also want to browse through our quick overview.

Configuration Templates

Configuration Templates are designed to simplify the process of initial configuration by requesting that you enter only the information required for the type of configuration you want. Even if a Template does not suit your needs exactly, select the closest fit, then edit the configuration after the Router Wizard has finished.

Template Name Description/Characteristics

Static Client
  1. You have more than 1 IP address assigned to by an ISP or your Network Administrator.
  2. Your IP Addresses do not change.
  3. You only connect to the Internet or Remote network(s).
  4. You never receive calls from Remote Networks.

Server
  1. You only receive calls from Remote Networks
  2. You never make calls to remote Networks.

Thin Proxy Client
  1. You have 1 IP address allocated by your ISP or Network Administrator.
  2. The IP address may be fixed or may change each time you connect.
  3. You only make calls to the Internet or a Remote Network.
  4. You never receive calls from a Remote Network.

HotPools (PVA)

  1. You have more than 1 IP address assigned to you by your ISP or Network administrator.
  2. You will make and receive calls from the Internet or a Remote Network.
