ZYTRAX, Inc. announces publication of "Pro DNS and BIND"
Zytrax, Inc. today announced publication of the book "Pro DNS and BIND" (ISBN 1-59059-494-0) authored by Ron Aitchison, President of Zytrax, Inc and published by Apress.
Zytrax has long maintained free, high-quality technical resources on its web site. This resource now numbers over 3,000 web pages and counting. The site is visited around 500,000 times per month.
"We use a lot of Open Source software in our business and we see this free technical information as our way of giving something back to the community" said Ron Aitchison, President of ZyTrax, Inc. "Most of the information consists of single pages describing particular topics, however, in 2001 we had started a longer, more in-depth series of Open Source guides under the generic title of 'for Rocket Scientists'. The first of these guides was 'DNS for Rocket Scientists' a subject that seemed to us to be both essential and singularly badly covered by on the web"
In late 2004 ZYTRAX received an email from Jason Gilmore, editor of the recently formed Open Source group at Apress, asking if we wanted to write a book on DNS for them. "You can imagine our surprise on receiving the email and since I had authored the original content the email came to me" said Aitchison "It took about 2 hours of thinking before I responded positively. Frankly, if I had known then the work involved I may have taken longer to respond and it may not have been positive."
The book, eventually titled 'Pro DNS and Bind', took 9 months of intensive, almost full-time, work to complete and comes in at a whopping 600 plus pages. "It was the hardest, and in a perverse way, the most enjoyable work I ever undertook. It is my fervent hope that readers find it useful, informative and, dare I say it, even enjoyable. I hope it also reflects the care and attention to detail that ZYTRAX brings to everything it does." said Aitchison
'Pro DNS and BIND' is available from all good book shops in North America, Europe and many other parts of the world, the Apress site (in both hard copy and PDF formats) as well as from on-line booksellers such as Amazon. The author also maintains a web site about the book.
