There are number of obvious problems with the technology, such as:
We hate to rain further on your parade but there is also a less obvious problems with xDSL which you may want to think about. We think its even more serious that those above 'cos its pernicious (sneaky).
The most worrying thing about xDSL is that it is not a switched technology. Your connection is 'nailed-up' (permanently connected) to your service provider (Telco).
Now just try and change your provider. Chances are that it will be a major hassle, that it MAY IMPACT YOUR VOICE SERVICE and is MOST DEFINITELY NOT UNDER YOUR CONTROL.
With a switched technology YOU just change a phone number and you have changed your provider. IT IS UNDER YOUR CONTROL.
No wonder dominant Telco's love xDSL. Man they have now got you for life. 'What me give up my high speed access...over my dead body' (see what we mean).
